A gastronomic wine par excellence, Pinot Gris d'Alsace seduces with its roundness, complexity, and elegance. Discover our tips for successful food and wine pairings with this noble grape variety.

Pinot Gris d'Alsace is a traditional grape variety with incredible aromatic richness. Formerly known as "Tokay-Pinot Gris" and "Tokay d'Alsace," this white wine is one of the four "noble grape varieties" of Alsace, along with Riesling, Gewurztraminer, and Muscat.

The finesse and distinction of Pinot Gris make it a great wine for gastronomy, with a nose and palate reminiscent of honey or candied fruit.

So, what should you serve with Pinot Gris? What food pairings work well with this Alsatian white wine?

Serve Pinot Gris as an aperitif

This Alsace wine is discreet but nevertheless offers great aromatic complexity. Its balance and freshness will seduce you right from the aperitif!

To accompany a cheese or charcuterie platter, choose it in its most classic and least sweet form, in the Alsace appellation. A dry white wine, Pinot Gris des Chasseurs de Lune (AOC Alsace) is the perfect accompaniment to your aperitif.

Pinot Gris with the main course

This Alsace white wine with its golden yellow color is the perfect accompaniment to regional dishes such as the traditional Alsatian baeckehoffe.

It is the ideal accompaniment to pies and terrines. This dry Alsace wine also goes very well with white meats and fish in sauce, enhancing their flavors.

In Alsace Grand Cru, a Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé is a wonderful accompaniment to pan-fried foie gras or desserts made with dried fruit (berawecka).

Pinot Gris and desserts

The creaminess of crème brûlée or custard, vanilla or caramel flans is perfectly complemented by a sweet wine such as Pinot Gris Vendanges Tardives. The silky, creamy attack of this wine is supported by an acidic structure that balances richness and finesse.

Enjoy!

Both subtle and generous, Pinot Gris from Alsace is the perfect accompaniment to delicious, refined cuisine. Whether enjoyed young and dry as an aperitif or in a sweeter version with dessert, it will add a touch of elegance to every moment of your meal.
