Pinot Noir

Aromas of berries and black fruits such as blackberries

Pinot Noir is the grape variety used to make Alsace Pinot Noir, the only red wine produced in the region. It is distinguished by its beautiful personality, both fruity and structured. Its color can reach a deep, dark red with subtle garnet reflections, obtained thanks to the skin maceration of the grapes during vinification.

On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of berries and black fruits, such as blackberry, blackcurrant and cherry, sometimes enhanced with more complex notes such as leather, vanilla and prune.

On the palate, Alsace red wines reveal the richness of their terroir, highlighting their fruity aromas. Balanced and persistent, they are distinguished by ample and silky tannins, which give them a beautiful structure.

Our Pinot Noirs should be served at room temperature. Definitely avoid the refrigerator: prefer a temperature of at least 15°C to allow the grape variety to reveal all its aromatic richness.

Pinot Noir makes the difference

Pinot noir is a very old grape variety dating back to the Middle Ages. After a period of decline when it was diluted, served too cool and lacking in personality, this grape variety is regaining its reputation thanks to committed winegrowers who produce wines with a more assertive structure, particularly on limestone terroirs with a good southern exposure. Today, 10% of the Alsatian vineyard area is planted with Pinot Noir.

The reds of Alsace thus have a card to play in making themselves known for their high quality and a sometimes unsuspected depth!

Pinot noir: a grape variety from Burgundy

Pinot Noir is a grape variety originating from Burgundy. In Alsace, it is used to make red wines that are both light and fruity, or on the contrary more full-bodied, depending on the winemaking methods and the terroir. It is also used in the composition of certain Crémants d'Alsace, in particular Rosés Brut and Blancs de Noirs, as well as in vintages of Alsace wines with the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC).

Pinot noir is a marriage of flavors with character

With its full-bodied and robust structure, Pinot Noir d'Alsace is the perfect match for fine cuts of red meat and game. It is the ideal accompaniment to prime rib of beef or duck breast. You can also serve it with stews or beef bourguignon.

Crémant d'Alsace Rosé, meanwhile, is the ideal aperitif and will also enhance your red fruit desserts such as raspberry millefeuille, red fruit soups or strawberry macaroons.
