Our Crémants of Alsace
Because there will always be a Crémant Bestheim by your side..
In the "Crémants d'Alsace" family, I ask for the essential, timeless wines, those that are always on hand to celebrate every moment or for the pleasure of a momentary effervescence. In the "Crémants d'Alsace" family, there are also more complex wines. The "Grand Prestige" vintages are the guardians of authenticity and excellence. These are the wines that, in the narrow, dark rows of our aging cellars, maintain a close relationship with our winemakers. This relationship is marked by secrets shared during long periods of aging on slats, which, at the end of the journey, reveal a refined finesse and temperament, and a definitively gastronomic character!

Crémant d'Alsace "Balade Olfactive"
A prestigious vintage revealing the infinite richness of the terroir from which it comes, the place known as "Strangenberg." Named "Balade Olfactive," this box set is the result of a new collaboration between Bestheim and the Strasbourg-based perfume house Serena Galini. This bold alliance has resulted in a five-part experience, an olfactory sequence that transports us to the terroir of this great wine. This cuvée was born in 2013 under a very lucky star and rested for more than nine years on slats before disgorging in order to refine the quintessence of Pinot Blanc and achieve excellence.
Available in a limited edition of 1,050 numbered bottles, this Crémant is presented in a box containing five numbered perfume vials and a tasting booklet.

The history of Alsace crémants
The history of Crémant d'Alsace dates back to the end of the 19th century, a period marked by German annexation. It was at this time that certain Champagne houses chose to settle in Alsace, bringing with them their expertise in the production of sparkling wines. This establishment laid the foundations for Crémant production in the region. Gradually, many Alsatian winegrowers began producing this sparkling wine, renowned for its finesse and quality.
In order to distinguish these wines from Champagnes and other sparkling wines, the term "Crémant" was adopted. This word, which originally referred to certain Champagne cuvées with lower gas content, was officially defined by the law of July 4, 1975, reserving the Crémant appellation for sparkling wines from an appellation d'origine contrôlée (AOC). The Crémants of the Loire and Burgundy were the first to benefit from this. It was not until August 24, 1976, that a decree established the Crémant d'Alsace AOC, thus recognizing the excellence of Alsatian expertise in the production of sparkling wines.
Cremants made according to the rules of the art
In order to qualify for the Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée (AOC) designation, Crémant d'Alsace must be produced according to very strict rules set out in specifications established by the INAO. These rules include, for example, the requirement to harvest the grapes by hand, to carry out precise and controlled vinification, including a second fermentation in the bottle known as the "traditional method," and to age the wine on racks for at least 12 months before the final disgorging phase. At Bestheim, particular attention is paid to the production of Crémant. Our site in Westhalten is entirely dedicated to the production of this sparkling wine. Thanks to our winegrowers who cultivate their land with love, each cuvée has its own spirit, style, strength, and substance. It is then up to our oenologists, our virtuosos, to apply their know-how and expertise to harmonize the five senses and produce wines and Crémants d'Alsace in the style of the Bestheim cellar, like so many paintings, melodies, or slices of life
How much does a Crémant d'Alsace cost?
At Bestheim, we talk first and foremost about experience. The price of Crémant d'Alsace varies according to the cuvée, the aging time, and the requirements of the vineyard. Brut Premium for spontaneity, Extra Brut for purity, Grand Prestige Millésimé or Rosé for greater complexity: there is a bottle for every moment. Our promise: a fair, transparent price that respects the fruit, the time, and the craftsmanship—so that the pleasure of sharing remains at the heart of your tasting experience.
Questions you may have
Crémant d'Alsace, like any other wine, is made from grapes that are pressed and then stored under specific conditions to allow fermentation, which transforms them into alcohol.
Once the tirage has been carried out (the process of bottling the wine and adding a liqueur de tirage containing sugar and yeast), the bottles are stored horizontally "sur lattes" in a cellar at a temperature of 11-12°C. The yeast introduced into the bottle breaks down the sugar, producing carbon dioxide (CO2). This is the second fermentation in the bottle, known as the famous "prise de mousse" (bubble formation). And this is where our famous bubbles come in!

Most of the best Crémants d'Alsace are made from white grapes. They can be single-varietal—with one variety taking center stage—or blended, with each grape variety contributing its own nuance and balance to the cuvée. Pinot Blanc for delicacy, Riesling for liveliness, Pinot Gris for depth, Chardonnay for purity: so many paths to the same freshness. And when Pinot Noir enters the scene, it offers a sparkling rosé with a beautiful color and precise fruitiness.
Synonymous with celebration, sparkling wines are often served as an aperitif with family or friends, or with dessert. Among the wide range of sparkling wines available internationally, two appellations coexist in France: Champagne and Crémant.
Several criteria differentiate them: the terroir, their geographical origin, the grape varieties used in their production, the production technique (traditional method vs. Champagne method) and, of course, the price!
To find out more, we invite you to read our article on the subject, which provides all the details: What is the difference between Crémant d'Alsace and Champagne?
At Bestheim, the unit price of a bottle (75 cl) for the best Crémants d'Alsace is generally between €10 and €16 depending on the cuvée (Brut Premium, Extra Brut, Grand Prestige Millésimé, Rosé). Expect to pay around €12–14 as a standard price, with promotional prices sometimes available on certain items. Our guiding principle: a fair price that reflects the aging time, grape varieties, and vintage—the experience above all else.
