Which wine should you choose for mulled wine? Red or white from Alsace?
What is the best wine for making mulled wine? Bestheim offers its recommendations and even provides a recipe!
Which wine is best for mulled wine?
For mulled red wine
Mulled wine is traditionally made with red wine. Choose a fruity, light wine that is not too tannic. Without hesitation, we recommend Pinot Noir from Les Chasseurs de Lune!
For mulled white wine
White wine is more original but appreciated for its uniqueness and delicacy.
Select a Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris from Les Chasseurs de Lune. The ideal choice is a semi-dry white wine with aromas of white and yellow fruits.
Do you like your mulled wine very sweet?
You can choose Chasseurs de Lune's Gewurztraminer for a sweeter white version. In this case, reduce the amount of sugar and spices in the recipe, as Gewurztraminer is already very aromatic.

The history of mulled wine
Alsatian mulled wine actually comes from the Romans, who invented this invigorating drink with digestive properties.
In the Middle Ages, this tradition spread throughout northern Europe, particularly among the nobility who could afford the luxury of spices.
Since then, Christmas markets have popularized mulled wine, making it an essential part of the holiday season.
