Cuvées « Rayon de lune »: Alsace wines in blue bottles, a true piece of History
These wines in blue bottles are emblematic of our winery. Discover the history of the "Chasseurs de Lune" and the four vintages that make up this unique range.
Les Chasseurs de Lune: between excellence and wisdom, committed winegrowers
Bestheim is a union of five large Alsatian wine cooperatives: Bennwihr, Westhalten, Obernai, Sigolsheim, and Kientzheim-Kaysersberg. The inhabitants of the village of Bennwihr, where our headquarters are located, have always been known as the "Moon Hunters" (Mondfanger).
The moon has thus become more than just an emblem, but a true symbol for Bestheim. It is at the heart of our slogan, "Those who chase the moon reap the sun." This sounds like the promise of a unique and mysterious experience, and bears witness to an extraordinary human adventure, that of ambitious men with boundless courage and a love of freedom.
Since 1990, the "Rayon de Lune" wines, packaged in blue bottles, have paid tribute to the commitment of these winegrowers who continue the tradition of their ancestors by proudly upholding the values that have shaped the history and uniqueness of the Alsace vineyards. As determined as they are original, they have always embraced their differences in order to remain authentic and united in the face of changes in the wine world.
Faithful to the wisdom of their elders, they strive for excellence (seeking to "catch the moon") while remaining rooted in their terroir. The quality of their products is a testament to this approach, full of love and respect.
Riesling "Rayon de Lune"
This Riesling has a bright, clear white color and a fresh nose with notes of grapefruit. Grown on clay-limestone soil, it also develops superb minerality. On the palate, it reveals its racy personality, typical of a well-crafted Riesling. It pairs perfectly with fish and shellfish.
Pinot Gris "Rayon de Lune"
With its deep golden yellow color, this Pinot Gris promises a delightful tasting experience. Its dry, fresh nose evokes the forest floor and hazelnuts. Fresh and well-balanced, this full-bodied, easy-drinking wine offers good length on the palate, developing the characteristic flavor of Pinot Gris. It pairs very well with white meats in sauce.
Gewurztraminer "Rayon de Lune"
With its intense golden yellow color and spicy notes, there is no doubt that the personality of Gewurztraminer is very much present in this wonderfully rich wine. Delicate aromas of exotic fruits enhance the finesse and roundness of this very well-balanced wine. It is the ideal companion for strong cheeses, foie gras, or even as an aperitif with a kougelhopf.
