An essential dessert for grandmothers, there are a thousand and one recipes for apple pie. We give you ours!

What to drink with this? A Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Zinnkoepflé, fin and rich, with aromas of spices and exotic fruits. A perfect match!

Ingredients

Preparation:

  1. Make the applesauce

    Peel and cut 4 Golden apples into pieces. Put them in a saucepan with a little water (1 glass). Stir well until the apples begin to soften, then add the vanilla sugar and cinnamon. Add a little water if necessary. Cook until desired texture is reached.
  2. Cut up the rest of the apples

    While the compote is cooking, peel and quarter the last two apples, then cut the quarters into thin strips.

  3. Assembly of the pie

    Roll out the shortcrust pastry in a mould and prick it with a fork. Once the compote has cooled down a bit, pour it over the pastry and place the apple slices on top, forming a spiral! Arrange the butter slices on the apples.

  4. Baking the pie

    Put in the oven preheated to 210° and let cook between 30 and 40 minutes. Keep an eye on the cooking time. Halfway through cooking, add a few slivered almonds on top and a little vanilla sugar if you want the apples to caramelize slightly.
