Roemerberg

Just outside Bennwihr

On the east side of Bennwihr, the lieu-dit known as Roemerberg (i.e. the "Romans' hill") is home to clay-limestone soils facing east-south-east. Its name is derived from the ancient Roman road which passes through this area.

Roemerberg is particularly well-suited to Gewurztraminer. These soils produce wines which are fruity, well-rounded and elegant, but also have the capacity to age with style.
