Schlossberg
An exceptional land
With its 80.28 hectares, the Grand Cru Schlossberg is the oldest of the Grands Crus of Alsace, classified in 1975. Facing due south, it overlooks the Weiss valley, connecting the town of Kientzheim to the medieval castle of Kaysersberg.
Established on a very steep hillside, its cultivation has required the creation of terraces characteristic of this region, most often supported by dry stone walls, which are an asset for maintaining biodiversity.
Riesling, master of the terroir
The Grand Cru Schlossberg is a terroir of choice for Riesling, which here expresses very pure, mineral, distinguished notes of remarkable finesse.
Cultivating the riches of their terroir, the older generations of Schlossberg winegrowers adopted an avant-garde approach. This respect for their work continues today, giving rise to delicate Alsace wines, in which the imprint and subtlety of Riesling are superbly affirmed.
