Getting to know the Gewurztraminer Roemerberg

On the east side of Bennwihr, the lieu-dit known as Roemerberg (i.e. the "Romans' hill") is home to clay-limestone soils facing east-south-east. Its name is derived from the ancient Roman road which passes through this area.

Tasting notes

Roemerberg produces Gewurztraminers which are fruity, well-rounded and elegant, but also have the capacity to age with style. A sun-kissed wine with a limpid golden colour and elegant legs. Sheer opulence on the palate, with rich lashings of mango, papaya and spices. Smooth and well-rounded texture, building to a deliciously peppery finale.

Food-wine pairings

Gewurztraminer Roemerberg is a great match for strong cheeses (Munster, Roquefort etc.), foie gras and classic desserts such as pistachio macarons.
