Launch of a new, exceptional cuvée

A CUVÉE AS NOBLE AS IT IS EPHEMERAL...

Qui Chasse le Lune Récolte le Soleil

Today, we unveil the quintessence of our know-how with a prestigious cuvée that epitomises the infinite richness of its terroir. It embodies the exceptional character of the greatest Crémants d’Alsace, with honesty and authenticity. Reflecting Bestheim’s identity, “Qui chasse la Lune, Récolte le Soleil” (When You Chase the Moon, You Catch the Sun) holds the promise of an original and mysterious experience, paying tribute to the “Moon Chasers”, founders of the cellar and ancestors of current members. This cuvée came into being in 2010, under a lucky star. Originating in the Strangenberg vineyard, in a predominantly limestone soil, it was crafted as an exceptional wine.

Bestheim’s oenologist Sylvain Kamm has guided this cuvée with outstanding potential from its youth to maturity. Listen to his interview to find out about the origin and characteristics of this wine. Disgorged in 2015, it was left to age on slats for 5 years to gain its exceptional character, and a place this autumn at the tables of the greatest connoisseurs.

Produced in a limited edition of 1,141 numbered bottles, this Crémant is presented in a luxurious cardboard box in Bestheim’s signature colours: the dominant shade is midnight blue, enhanced with hot-stamped gold lettering against a background depicting the hillsides of Alsace. This elegant packaging, with attention to the smallest details, illustrates Bestheim’s world and its values in harmony with its new identity. When removed, the bottle’s foil reveals a “secret”: a golden cabochon is set into the wire cage. This prestigious case does justice to the cuvée inside!

TASTING NOTES

  • APPEARANCE: This Crémant is a beautiful deep yellow in colour with straw yellow glints.
  • NOSE: Its long ageing has given it wonderful complexity, in which notes of yellow or orange fruit such as apricots and peaches mingle with a characteristic toasted aroma and spices.
  • PALATE: The extremely smooth palate continues along the same lines, with very delicate bubbles. The acidity is clear-cut yet well integrated. It blends in superbly with the wine’s creaminess and smoothness. The aromatic range includes a delicate fragrance of white peach, with subtle notes of graphite and dried raspberries.

Food and wine pairing: Delicious on its own, it can also be paired with a foie gras terrine or fish in a beurre blanc sauce.
