A Mediterranean climate
Facing south-south-west and sheltered from the wind, the terroir is a mixture of marl, limestone and sandstone: rich, deep soils which allow an almost Mediterranean array of flora to thrive.
Grand Cru Furstentum is located in the Kaysersberg Valley, a 30.50-hectare estate straddling the villages of Kientzheim and Sigolsheim.
Planted primarily with Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Pinot Gris d'Alsace, Furstentum was listed as early as 1330 in the inventory of the vineyards belonging to the convent of Basel.
Facing south-south-west and sheltered from the wind, the terroir is a mixture of marl, limestone and sandstone: rich, deep soils which allow an almost Mediterranean array of flora to thrive.
The sun exposure is amplified by the steep slope (37%), and the fact that the soils soak up heat and water. Perfect conditions in which to create a great wine.
Grand Cru Furstentum is a wine of great finesse and remarkable aromatic power, which ages exquisitely. The grapes are endowed with a distinctive, exotic character and the potential to reach incredible levels of ripeness, or even over-ripeness.
