Grand Cru Schlossberg

AN EXCEPTIONAL REGION

With its 80.28 hectares, Schlossberg is the oldest of Alsace's Grands Crus, officially recognised in 1975. Facing directly south, the vines look out over the Weiss Valley, stretching from the town of Kientzheim to the medieval castle of Kaysersberg.

Planted on very steep hillsides, the vineyard is sculpted into terraces - a typical feature of the landscape in this area.

The finesse in question

The source rock is predominantly granite (migmatite), giving sandy soils which are rich in minerals but shallow in depth, particularly on the upper slopes (400m altitude). The richness and diversity of the minerals found in these soils gives the wines of Schlossberg unmistakeable finesse and aromatic complexity.

Riesling master of the terroir

Grand Cru Schlossberg provides perfect conditions for Riesling, allowing the grapes to achieve a rare degree of purity, minerality and finesse.

Schlossberg down the generations

“Cultivating the riches of the earth, in generations past the winemakers of Schlossberg pioneered new techniques. We continue to honour that tradition, crafting delicate wines which demonstrate just how subtle yet superb Riesling can be."
